Like-minded organizations working to preserve Marin share complementary goals with Marin Open Space Trust. We all work for the preservation of open space lands and critical habitats in Marin. A success for any one of these organizations is a win for every resident of Marin and the greater Bay Area. Marin County has a long history of individuals and groups who have worked tirelesly to preserve this beautiful landscape and natural resources.
Over one hundred years ago a Marin resident, William Kent, donated lands to the federal government that would later become Muir Woods National Monument. Today Muir Woods is visited by people from the world over, all coming to witness these majestic redwoods, some over 600 years old, nestled in this protected preserve along our coast. Residents from throughout the bay area flock to our mountain trails and coast areas to enjoy their unique experience engaging in the natural places we have preserved over time. Much of our land is under protection and available because of the vision, passion and time by many individuals.
